Be Ridiculously Yourself

Life is like an empty box. It doesn’t matter what you get out of it. What really matters is what you put into it.

The Beautifully ImperFect

Wabi Sabi is a Japanese word which is hard to define. The Japanese don’t even have it in their dictionary, but its essence is appreciating the imperfect. It is beauty that is imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.

We as humans are imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. We are Wabi Sabi. How freeing that feels. We are a natural thing, only a machine can be perfect and even they can go haywire. The stress we put on ourselves to look, act and create perfectly can make us very unhappy. Let’s celebrate our Wabi Sabi selves. We are made of stardust and what’s more lovely then that.

“The world is not to be put in order; the world is order, incarnate. It is for us to harmonize with this order.” – Henry Miller

“Perfectly ordered disorder designed with a helter-skelter magnificence.” -Emily Carr looking at the forest

As Carl Sagan says

Remember this every day

Slow Adventures

“Life is an adventure, it’s not a package tour.” -Eckhart Tolle

Summer is not to be rushed. We can forget that as we hurry from one artificial air conditioned place to another. Heat naturally slows us down. That’s why nature made Summer,to slow us down. We should listen. It’s a time to explore and stretch the boundaries of ourselves.

Drawing is a guilt-free start to slowing our busy selves. We can justify sitting and looking and being still because we are doing something.

Summer is the time for anything to happen……
Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be. – Shel Silverstein

Think you can’t draw, that’s okay as this video explains.

Change Problems to Challenges and Lighten Up

Problem – something difficult to deal with

Challenge – a call to test your skill or strength

Changing your outlook can make all the difference. This is a problem sounds ominousness. This is a challenge sounds exciting. Our mind flip flops from oh no to I can figure this out. Example I’m out of chocolate, do I think oh no or how can I get some.

People talk about the reality of their life as if it is important. And we want you to understand, it’s only the temporary indicator. -your gas gauge is on empty-do you go to the gas station and look at your gas gauge in horror? “How did this happen? Why, why, why did this happen to me?” Do you lay your head on the steering wheel and just sob? “Oh, look what it’s come to. I’m finished. I’ve lived all of this life, and look where I am.” Or do you just fill up?”– Esther Abraham-Hicks,

Maybe we all need a little laughing yoga

Live Live Live

Life is precious and slips by quickly. We look up and it’s tomorrow and we wonder what happened to yesterday or even what we did yesterday. We remember carnivals not checklists.

To live is the rarest thing in the world, most people just exist – Oscar Wilde

“Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what’s next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.”
― Agnes De Mille

Which Way Does Your Door Swing?

Are you waiting for someone to open the door and say Come on in
Are you pushing it open and saying Here I am?

If we wait for someone to open the door, we will must likely get rained on, tired, over heated and miss the show.
We pushed ourselves into this life, came out screaming and people noticed. If we had waited inside that womb for someone to tell us okay we’re ready for you, we might still be waiting in the dark. Cozy but not having a great deal of fun. There would be no ukulele playing.

Refuge From The Chaos

It’s the year of the Wood Sheep

I’ve’ read many meanings and it seems to boil down to – A year to take refuge from the chaos that numbs us. It’s a time to come to our senses. Sheep appear quite mild but in actuality are toughies. They survive harsh weather, lack of food, the embarrassment of a bad haircut yet stay calm and focused.

I imagine this is what they are singing So take a bring and do a little new year dance
